Cas 1Les émotions : be ou feel + adjectif

Réflexe — be / feel + adjectif invariable ; scared of, proud of, worried about, angry with. Revoir la méthode →

Exercice 1★★★Facile

Complète avec l’adjectif de sentiment qui convient (happy, sad, scared, proud, bored, angry, excited, tired).

  1. There's a huge spider on my pillow! I'm .
    Une énorme araignée → la peur : scared (ou afraid).
  2. My best friend is moving to Australia. I feel .
    Un départ → sad (triste).
  3. I got 20 out of 20 in my art test! I'm so of myself.
    proud of = fier de.
  4. This documentary is three hours long and nothing happens. I'm .
    Je m’ennuie → bored (pas boring).
  5. My brother took my headphones without asking. I'm really .
    La colère → angry (ou cross).
  6. We're going to the concert tonight! I'm so !
    Une joie impatiente → excited.
Exercice 2★★★Moyen

Complète avec la préposition qui convient : of, about ou with.

  1. Noah is afraid the dark.
    afraid of = avoir peur de.
  2. I'm worried my grandad: he is in hospital.
    worried about = inquiet pour.
  3. Our teacher is cross us because we are noisy.
    cross with + personne = fâché contre.
  4. Are you excited the school trip?
    excited about = tout excité à l’idée de.
Exercice 3★★★Difficile

Phrases 1 et 2 : traduis en anglais. Phrases 3 et 4 : chaque phrase contient une erreur ; récris-la correctement.

  1. Je me sens un peu triste aujourd'hui. →
    feel sans pronom, a bit pour atténuer : I feel a bit sad today.
  2. Ma petite sœur est timide. →
    My little sister is shy. — shy = timide.
  3. He is scared from the dark. →
    scared of, jamais scared from.
  4. My cousins are tireds after the match. →
    L’adjectif est invariable : tired, sans -s.

Cas 2Demander, expliquer et réagir

Réflexe — How do you feel? / What’s the matter? ; because ; make + personne + adjectif ou base verbale ; Great! / What a shame! Revoir la méthode →

Exercice 4★★★Facile

Complète avec un mot de la banque : matter · feel · because · glad · shame · worry (chaque mot sert une fois).

  1. — What's the ? — I've lost my keys.
    What’s the matter? = Qu’est-ce qui ne va pas ?
  2. — How do you today? — Much better, thanks.
    How do you feel?
  3. I'm happy it's my birthday.
    because explique le sentiment.
  4. — My test went well! — Oh, I'm !
    Bonne nouvelle : I’m glad! (je suis content pour toi).
  5. — I can't come to your party. — Oh, what a !
    Mauvaise nouvelle : What a shame! (Quel dommage !).
  6. Don't ! Everything will be fine.
    Don’t worry! = Ne t’inquiète pas !
Exercice 5★★★Moyen

Complète avec make ou makes, ou avec le mot anglais demandé.

  1. Sad films always my mum cry.
    Sujet pluriel (sad films) : make.
  2. This song me want to dance.
    Sujet singulier (this song) : makes.
  3. My dad's jokes make us . (rire)
    make + personne + base verbale : laugh.
  4. Loud noises make my cat . (avoir peur)
    make + animal + adjectif : scared.
Exercice 6★★★Difficile

Traduis en anglais.

  1. Quel dommage ! →
    What a shame!
  2. Pourquoi es-tu en colère ? →
    Avec be, on inverse : Why are you angry?
  3. Malheureusement, je suis malade. →
    Unfortunately, I’m ill. — en tête de phrase, suivi d’une virgule.
  4. This film makes me to cry. (corrige) →
    make + personne + base verbale sans to : This film makes me cry.

Cas 3Exprimer ses goûts : like, love, hate + -ing

Réflexe — like / love / hate / can’t stand + -ing ; -e qui tombe, consonne doublée ; likes, loves, hates, doesn’t like. Revoir la méthode →

Exercice 7★★★Facile

Mets le verbe entre parenthèses à la forme en -ing.

  1. My cousin loves (dance) hip-hop.
    dance → dancing (le -e disparaît).
  2. Do you like (paint) with watercolours?
    paint + -ing = painting.
  3. They hate (swim) in cold water.
    Consonne doublée : swimming.
  4. She doesn't like (act) in front of the class.
    act + -ing = acting.
  5. We love (take) photos of the city.
    take → taking.
  6. I don't like (run) in the rain.
    run → running (double n).
Exercice 8★★★Moyen

Complète avec le verbe de goût conjugué et le verbe en -ing (deux mots).

  1. Emma (love / write) stories.
    3ᵉ personne : loves ; write → writing.
  2. My brothers (hate / tidy) their room.
    Sujet pluriel : hate ; tidy → tidying.
  3. Grandpa (not like / fly) .
    Négation à la 3ᵉ personne : doesn’t like + flying.
  4. I (can't stand / wait) for the bus.
    can’t stand waiting = je ne supporte pas d’attendre.
Exercice 9★★★Difficile

Phrases 1 et 2 : corrige l’erreur. Phrases 3 et 4 : traduis en anglais.

  1. My sister likes sing in the shower. →
    like + verbe en -ing : My sister likes singing in the shower.
  2. He don't like cooking. →
    Avec he : doesn’t like.
  3. Je ne supporte pas de me lever tôt. →
    I can’t stand getting up early.
  4. Est-ce que tu aimes dessiner ? →
    Question avec do, puis -ing : Do you like drawing?

Cas 4-ed ou -ing : bored ou boring ?

Réflexe — la personne ressent → -ed ; la chose provoque → -ing ; scared / scary. Revoir la méthode →

Exercice 10★★★Facile

Choisis et écris la bonne forme.

  1. This book is (bored / boring) .
    Le livre provoque l’ennui : boring.
  2. After the long walk, we are (tired / tiring) .
    Nous ressentons la fatigue : tired.
  3. Football is really (excited / exciting) !
    Le football provoque l’enthousiasme : exciting.
  4. My little brother is (scared / scary) of clowns.
    Il ressent la peur : scared (of).

Complète avec la forme en -ed ou en -ing de l’adjectif entre parenthèses.

  1. The end of the film is very (surpris-) .
    La fin du film provoque la surprise : surprising.
  2. Are you (interest-) in history?
    La personne ressent l’intérêt : interested (in).
  3. Cleaning the whole house is (tir-) .
    Le ménage provoque la fatigue : tiring.

    Ce qui fait peur : scary.

Chaque phrase contient une erreur : récris-la correctement.

  1. I'm very boring in this maths lesson. →
    Je m’ennuie : bored.
  2. The fireworks were so excited! →
    Le feu d’artifice provoque l’enthousiasme : exciting.
  3. My parents are interesting in art. →
    Ils ressentent l’intérêt : interested.
  4. Your Halloween mask is scared! →
    Le masque fait peur : scary.
