(4 pts)Document 1. Extract from a blog by Finn, 15, from Belfast.
« Three months ago, my family moved from Belfast to a tiny village in the west of Ireland, because my mum got a job in a hospital there. At first, I hated it: there was no cinema, no bus after six o'clock, and my new school had only ninety pupils. I missed my friends and I spent my evenings on my phone. Then, in October, my neighbour Mr Doyle asked me to help him on his farm on Saturdays. I learnt to drive a tractor, I looked after the sheep and I earned some pocket money. Now I have two new friends, Ciara and Rory, who live on the next farm, and we go surfing on Sundays when the waves are good. I still miss the city sometimes, but honestly, I don't want to go back. Next summer, my old friends from Belfast are coming to stay: I can't wait to show them my new life. »
- a)Why did Finn's family leave Belfast, and when did they move?
- b)Give three reasons why Finn hated the village at first.
- c)True or false? Justify each answer with a quotation from the text: a) Finn works on the farm every day. b) Finn wants to return to Belfast.
- d)What is going to happen next summer, and how does Finn feel about it? Answer with a full sentence.

Durée : 55 min – Sans document – Sur 20 points · Anglais 3ᵉ
(4 pts)- a)Because his mum got a job in a hospital there; they moved three months ago. (1)
- b)There was no cinema, no bus after six o'clock, and the school had only ninety pupils (he also missed his friends). (1)
- c)False: « help him on his farm on Saturdays ». b) False: « I don't want to go back ». (1)
- d)His old friends from Belfast are coming to stay, and he can't wait to show them his new life (he is impatient / excited). (1)
(4 pts)- a)Three mornings (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday); the trip starts at 12:30 and lasts 9 hours 30 minutes (until 22:00). (1)
- b)The quiz night (20:00) starts the latest; Tuesday evening is free. (1)
- c)No, you don't: you only need to bring a packed lunch on Wednesday, for the day trip to London. (1)
- d)Ex.: On Friday morning, the final test lasts 90 minutes — that's how long you will need to stay. / On Wednesday, we are going to leave for London at 12:30 and come back at 22:00. (1)
(4 pts)- a)Where does Nadia live? b) When did they arrive? c) How many cats has she got? (How many cats does she have?) d) Why is he late? (1)
- b)No, I have never been to Scotland. / My parents gave me a bike (for my birthday). (1)
- c)have known ; are taking ; visited. (1)
- d)« My cousin is sixteen (years old), she lives in London and she agrees with me. » (1)
- c)Ordre : first, then, finally — cause / conséquence : because, so, that's why — opposition : however, whereas. (1)
- d)06:15 ; 10:40 ; 12:30 ; 09:10. (1)
(4 pts)- a)Dear Mrs Bernard, I hope you are well. Last week, I spent five days at an English summer camp in Brighton. (1)
- b)First, we visited the town on foot, then we went to London for a day; I preferred London because we saw Big Ben and the Thames. (1)
- c)In my opinion, the lessons were useful, but they were a bit too short: only three mornings. (1)
- d)Next month, I'm going to write to my new friend Rory every week to practise. Thank you for your advice before the trip. Best wishes, (name) (1)
